Colts End Season with Loss
Nyman and Robertson each with 3 points in Kingston's win over Barrie.
There is no luck of the Irish for the Barrie Colts.
The OHL club finished the 2016-2017 regular season with a 6-3 loss to the Kingston Frontenacs in their annual St. Patrick's Day game on Saturday night.
The Colts finished with a record of 17-44-6-1 and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
The game also marked the final one for overagers Roy Radke and Anthony Stefano.
Radke gave the Colts a 1-0 lead in the first period before Kingston answered on a goal by Stephen Desrocher to tie it at 1-1.
The Frontenacs would go up 4-1 early in the third period but Aiden Brown and Ben Hawerchuk would score 29 seconds apart to put Barrie down by just one at 4-3.
Linus Nyman (2 goals, 1 assist) and Jason Robertson (1 goal, 2 assists) each had 3 points while Jeremy Helvig made 21 saves for the Frontenacs (32-26-5-4).
Christian Propp had 16 saves in the loss.
Kingston went 1-for-3 on the powerplay, Barrie finished 0-for-2.
