will include maintenance

An agreement for the town of Wasaga Beach to look after the main beach is moving ahead.

On Tuesday, Committee of the Whole recommended that full council enter into an agreement (with the province) to handle enforcement and maintenance of Beach 1 and 2 for five years.

The cost is just over $186,000 dollars for 2017. That's $6000 over what was budgeted.

The main beach area has previously been looked after by Ontario Parks.

Also at this meeting, committee recommends that council direct staff to issue a Request for Expressions of Interest to look for developers interested in building up the downtown.

And the committee recommends that council hold a public meeting regarding a zoning by-law change for the former Giant Tiger store to be used as a private high school for grade 9 and 10 students from China. The school estimates 20 to 40 students in its first year and wants to be open in September.
